12 universities unite in the Øresund University alliance
The Øresund University is a co-operation between twelve universities in the Øresund Region. The university alliance increases co-operation between the existing universities within education and research as well as co-operation with business and industry in the region, local and regional authorities and other organisations in Øresund. 

The best of two countries
Øresund University aims to be Europe’s foremost trans-national university co-operation characterised by high quality, international profile, a firm regional establishment and a high level of student influence. When they meet, the best elements of the two countries’ university systems will stimulate and spur each other towards better universities.

Collaboration for efficiency
The member universities will collectively make out a powerful knowledge centre which will:
• improve efficiency and quality in education, research and other tasks through development, co-operation and reciprocal influences
• promote co-operation across university boundaries by stimulating contacts, removing barriers and simplifying mobility thus leading the way for European university co-operation
• play a significant role for development and integration in the Øresund Region, an important tool is the Øresund Science Region which is an initiative by the Øresund University.
• make the university environment in the region more attractive than the sum of its parts
• attract more resources to the member universities
