| The School of Education was established on 1 July 2000 by the merger of four institutions: the Royal Danish School of Educational Studies, the Danish National Institute for Educational Research, the Danish School of Advanced Pedagogy and the Danish National Centre for Technology-Supported Learning. This was first a separate university called the University of Education, that merged with the University of Aarhus in 2007.
The university is committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and research. Our aim is to promote research and postgraduate education at the highest level in the field of educational studies, and to enhance the quality of educational research and pedagogical practice in Denmark. The university seeks to become a leading international centre for educational research and professional development.
The university is international in outlook and actively seeks collaboration and partnerships with universities and research institutions in Europe and overseas, including formal exchange agreements for staff and students. The university provides a stimulating working environment for visiting researchers and students.
Research conducted at the School of Education covers the entire educational field. It reflects the profiles of the university's five constituent departments and is shaped by an institutional research policy that promotes interdisciplinary research programmes across departmental boundaries. Teaching programmes are similarly comprehensive, catering for the professional needs of educators in compulsory, further and higher education, as well as other professionals, and the university offers a range of postgraduate courses at Masters and PhD level. |
