Arriving to the Region

The Øresund Region boasts one of Europe's best infrastructure systems. Main international entry point is Copenhagen International Airport serving approximately 18 million passengers each year. From the airport trains connect directly to both Copenhagen and Malmö city centres.

Alternatively, if arriving from within Europe/Scandinavia, Copenhagen Central Station and Malmö Central Station connect to the European rail network. Additionally, there exists a network of bus companies, which connect a majority of the larger European cities. This option is often the most economical choice.

Travel within the Region

Within the Region, travel is easy. On the whole, the Øresund Region is characterized by its extensive public transportation system. Buses, trains, and, since 2002, an underground Metro system serve the Copenhagen metropolitan area. On the Swedish side there is a well-structured combination of trains and buses, which will take you anywhere you need to go. Trains operate between Malmö and Copenhagen Central Station every 20 minutes with travelling times between these two cities of approximately 30 minutes.

For most students in the Øresund Region, the preferred means of transportation in their daily lives is the bicycle. Distances within the region's urban centres are usually not greater than what is manageable by bicycle or even by foot. Combine any of the modes of transportation mentioned on this page, and you will find that the Øresund Region has a cohesive infrastructure on both urban with a conscientious emphasis on public transportation.
